Co-Founders

MarutAI was founded by Preetam Dutta and Rob Bathurst.

Preetam earned his PhD at Columbia, where his research focused on AI and cybersecurity. He published work on synthetic data and privacy in the Stanford Tech Law Review. His experience also includes quantitative research at Bloomberg New Energy Finance and close to a decade in a materials science wet lab at Yale. He has founded companies and invested in energy and technology businesses.

Rob holds a graduate degree from the University of Oxford in safety-critical systems. His work has covered AI, large-scale data systems, cybersecurity, cyberwarfare, and red teaming. He has led DARPA research and held senior positions at the DoD, USAF, Mayo Clinic, Cylance, and BlackBerry. He holds patents in machine learning, security, and engineering; has spoken at Black Hat, DEF CON, and HIMSS; and advises policymakers on AI and security.

They founded MarutAI after seeing organizations deploy AI in regulated environments without a formal way to define or test its operating boundaries.

Catalyst strengthens customer data and determines what the system needs to learn next. VATS turns that knowledge into tested decision models with defined boundaries. Manifest puts those models to work through agents, workflows, and operating controls in the customer's environment.

The work combines research with production engineering. Team members are expected to own difficult problems, explain their decisions clearly, and understand the domain in which a system will operate.
